Effective June 28, 2026
Summis ("we", "our", or "us") is a college admissions intelligence product built by UC Berkeley students. This policy explains what information we collect when you join our waitlist, how we use it, and your rights over it.
When you sign up for the Summis waitlist, we collect:
We do not collect your name, location, IP address (beyond what our hosting infrastructure records in standard server logs), or any other personal information at sign-up.
We use your email address solely to:
We will never use your email to send unrelated marketing or sell you anything without your explicit consent. We will not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes — ever.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for processing your email address is your consent — which you give by actively signing up for the waitlist. You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us (see Section 7).
We use the following third-party services that may process your data as part of our infrastructure:
No other third parties receive your data. We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or analytics tools (at this stage).
We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any form of persistent client-side storage. No consent banner is shown because none is required.
We retain your email address until you request deletion, or for a reasonable period after product launch (at which point data handling will be covered by a full in-product privacy policy). You can request deletion at any time by emailing us (see Section 7).
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights — or to unsubscribe and be removed from the waitlist — email us at:
We will respond within 30 days. There is no fee for making a request. We do not sell personal information, so there is no "opt out of sale" mechanism needed (CCPA §1798.120).
Summis is intended for students who are 13 years of age or older, and for parents or guardians signing up on behalf of a student. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child under 13 has submitted their email to us, please contact us at privacy@trysummis.com and we will delete it promptly.
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage, access controls, and rate limiting on our APIs. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take this seriously and follow industry best practices.
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and, if appropriate, notify you by email. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
